INCITE! is a nation-wide network of radical feminists of color working to end violence against women, gender non-conforming, and trans people of color, and our communities. We support each other through direct action, critical dialogue, and grassroots organizing.

Who We Are

INCITE! Women, Gender Non-Conforming, and Trans people of Color* Against Violence is a national activist organization of radical feminists of color advancing a movement to end violence against women of color and our communities through direct action, critical dialogue and grassroots organizing.

INCITE! is made up of grassroots chapters and affiliates across the U.S. working on particular political projects such as police violence, reproductive justice, and media justice; a national collective that works to leverage this grassroots organizing on a national and transnational platform; an advisory collective that helps increase the capacity of national organizing; and thousands of members and supporters.

What We Do

INCITE! works with groups of women of color* and our communities to develop political projects that address the multiple forms of violence women of color experience in our lives, on our bodies, and in our communities.

We identify “violence against women of color” as a combination of “violence directed at communities,” such as police violence, war, and colonialism, and “violence within communities,” such as sexual and domestic violence.

Chapters and affiliates engage in strategies and projects that address both personal and state violence, acknowledging the ways that oppressions intersect in the lives of women of color. Some of those projects include producing a women of color radio show, challenging the non-profitization of antiviolence and other social justice movements, organizing rallies on street harassment, training women of color on self-defense, organizing mothers on welfare, building and running a grassroots clinic, supporting communities to engage in community accountability strategies, and much more.

How can you get involved?

“I’m a freelance writer, grad student and night owl. I’m subscribed to dozens of email lists, text message alerts, and Facebook pages and groups, which share actions that anyone can take to fight against the Trump administration. Inspired by Rogan’s List, I’ve decided to collect all of these daily actions in one place to make it easy for anyone to follow along and join the resistance. Our mission is to make it simply irresistible to engage in our democracy. We will serve up four concrete acts of resistance each week for the next four years.

To make it simply irresistible for Americans to become active participants in rebuilding our democracy.

AMELIA MIAZAD is an Afghan-born American girl (no birth certificate folks, you’ll just have to trust her) who became even more true-blue after the November 8th election. Amelia has a law degree from Berkeley Law. In addition to practicing law, Amelia has founded non-profits and led higher educational programs, initiatives, and social enterprises. An eternal optimist, Amelia believes in the power of collective action and looks forward to building the wall-of-us together.

Amelia’s role is strategic vision and content development.

KARA GANTER grew up in rural Wisconsin, where it is not polite to talk about politics and the most appropriate way to deal with feelings is crying in the shower. When that stopped working post-election, she decided an alternate coping strategy was necessary. She’s a lawyer, a writer, and a technophile. Kara has journalism and law degrees from the University of Wisconsin and she’s trained in instructional design, educational technology and pedagogy. Now she puts all those tools to work to help build programs to train the next generation of leaders in law and social justice.

Kara’s role is creative vision, web design, and operations – because even a website about resisting ugly policies should be pretty.

We are fortunate to have advisors and volunteers who are leaders in law, policy, technology, government, media, and education.

The first woman to have won the majority of votes for President of the United States recently said,

“Our constitutional democracy demands our participation, not just every four years but all the time.

— Hillary Clinton, November 9, 2016

Our constitutional democracy, our world, and our planet are all under siege. All-of-us must build a big, beautiful wall of resistance.

In just the past few days, though, government scientists have come up with a devilishly clever–and entirely legal–strategy to oppose the Trump administration’s efforts to suppress their speech. Using Twitter, the same vehicle that Trump himself used so effectively throughout his campaign, they have created a set of “rogue” and “alt” accounts that have already started tweeting the real news about science, medicine, and the environment.

All of these accounts are run by non-government employees with no government sponsorship, but government scientists, in their off-hours time, can’t be prevented from sending them information. In just a few days, these accounts have over 3.5 million followers, a number that is rising fast. Here’s are some of the account with their total followers as of January 29:
